Harry and Meghan make huge Announcement

Last January, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex Harry and Meghan announced that they would be stepping back as senior members of the royal family. As part of that, they would work to become financially independent. The move came after a seemingly dedicated campaign by the British press to paint the first non-white royal as the single worst human to walk the earth.
Then in March they formally stepped down and planned to review the arrangement after 12 months. On Thursday, it was confirmed that the step back will be permanent.
Buckingham Palace released an official statement on the matter explaining what the couple’s decision entails.
“They are required to step back from Royal duties, including official military appointments. They will no longer receive public funds for Royal duties.
With The Queen’s blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations. While they can no longer formally represent The Queen, the Sussexes have made clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty.
The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.”
The full statement included well wishes for both Harry and Meghan. It also noted that the couple would repay Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage. This will continue to be their U.K home.
Harry and Meghan also responded via a spokesperson.
“As evidenced by their work over the past year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the U.K and around the world and have offered their continued support to the organizations they have represented regardless of official role. We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”
It seems to most vitriolic voices against the pair have gotten what they wanted, but it remains to be seen if that will put an end to the media frenzy surrounding them.
