How To Get Paid During Quarantine

Quarantine for many has meant a loss of income. So below are some possible ways to make ends meet during the crisis.
Remote Working Options
The safest option right now is to stay at home. Which means that remote work is a great option for the current crisis. Below are some companies who offer remote work even when the country isn’t on lock down. There are many more than this, but be careful when you go looking. A lot of companies that promise you can make X amount of money at home turn out to be scams, such as MLMs. Always research the site beyond looking at it’s about page.
VIPKID
VIPKID is an online tutoring platform that calls itself “the most rewarding way to make extra money.” Essentially you can sign up from anywhere in the world to teach English to children in China. They provide training and the schedule is flexible.
Appen
Appen is an Australia based technology company. They offer work in 130 countries including the U.S. The roles include tasks like transcription, translation, marketing, and even “micro” tasks that can be completed in around one hour. Much like VIPKID, work is flexible.
Survey Junkie
Survey Junkie is one of many paid survey sites. Like all of them, you won’t make a fortune, but survey sites are incredibly simple and flexible. The reviews for Survey Junkie in particular are pretty solid.
Companies Hiring During Quarantine
There are also some companies hiring for in-person work. Mostly for essential services like pharmacies and food stores. Of course being out comes with risk. Consider before applying if you or anyone you live with falls into the high risk category.
With that in mind companies that are hiring right now include:
- CVS Health
- Walgreen’s
- Amazon
- Walmart
- Kroger
- 7-Eleven
- Tesco
- Pappa Johns
Details and links to apply for these roles can be found on ABC.
- Aldi
- Albetsons
- Dollar General
- Dollar Tree/Family Dollar
- Domino’s
- GE Healthcare
- Instacart
- Kroger
- Pizza Hut
- Publix
Details and links to apply for these jobs (and also some of the ones in the previous list) can be found on Fortune.
These next few weeks (or months) are going to be tough for everyone. So stay safe out there.
