Tamar Braxton and Funky Dineva are officially not on speaking terms, and the fallout is messy. What started with a near-fatal accident has turned into a full-blown feud involving PR-stunt accusations, cheating rumors with Mendeecees Harris.
Tamar and Funky Dineva (real name Quentin Latham) weren’t just internet associates — they were longtime friends. Funky supported the singer publicly, and she included him in her projects. Everything shifted after her August accident. Tamar revealed on Instagram that she “almost died” after a mysterious incident she cannot remember, according to Essence. Now, Funky is making claims about what happened and who was involved. Here’s how it went down.
Funky Dineva got upset after Tamar Braxton claimed to not remember the accident.
In an interview with The Morning Hustle, Tamar explained she doesn’t remember the incident, only the aftermath. After hearing her comments, Funky went live on YouTube in a video titled “Tamar Braxtron, Mendeecees, and the missing teeth.” He claimed he was the friend who found Tamar and said he had been holding back details.
“That night was never about me,” Funky Dineva said. “Now, this is the third time me and you have been hanging out [and] out of nowhere, here comes Mendeecees… So now, you and Mendeecees sneaking and dealing around.”
Once Funky Dineva put those claims on YouTube, Tamar fired back. “This is a lie,” the singer said, via Bossip. “It's sad that the moment you achieve something meaningful, some people choose to respond with gossip and sensationalism.”
What led to Tamar Braxton and Funky Dineva’s feud?
In August, Tamar said a friend found her in a pool of blood with serious facial injuries. “I struggled to write this but everyone keeps calling me and honestly, I can’t even really talk anymore I’m so weak,” she wrote. “I almost died Sunday. I was found in a pool of blood from my friend with a face injury.”
Funky Dineva had been with Tamar the night of the accident and later appeared in her promo. That connection triggered online speculation. Many fans accused the singer of staging the incident as a publicity stunt and even suggested Funky played a role.
He did not like that. Funky accused Tamar of letting him take the heat without stepping in to clear his name. He also claimed her EP rollout made it look like he had taken part in a setup.
“Here it is I got ate up alive over my Birthday Weekend and the whole while there was nothing wrong with Tamar’s a**,” Funky Dineva wrote on Instagram. “Now she done released this tired a** music video for this raggedy EP that don’t nobody want.”
Tamar initially responded with grace. On her Instagram Story, she said she still loves him and was literally in the hospital trying to recover when the backlash hit. “No matter what he says, I love @MsFunkyDineva anyway… Had I known what was going on while I was in the hospital trying to recover, I would have said something. It’s terrible that whatever I DIDN’T say turned into all this… I just want PEACE.”
