The Breakdown: Since Cardi B released her Grammy-winning debut album, Invasion of Privacy, fans have been holding their breath for a follow-up. After 2024 came and went without the music she promised, it looks like 2025 may finally be the year she drops her sophomore album. Here’s what we know about the release date and tracklist.
Few rappers have made waves in the music industry the way that Cardi B has. She first turned heads with her unfiltered commentary on Vine, Instagram, and VH1’s Love and Hip Hop: New York and established a reputation for raw authenticity.
She brought that same energy to her debut album in 2018. Invasion of Privacy broke records and earned Cardi a Grammy, and fans have been impatiently waiting for a follow-up ever since.
Well, it seems the Bronx rapper is finally delivering. Here’s what we know about Cardi B’s 2025 album release date and tracklist.

Cardi B’s 2025 album release date has been long anticipated.
At the top of 2024, Cardi promised fans that she would be dropping her sophomore album that year. But as the year progressed, Cardi B walked back the release date, announcing that she would only be dropping the features she had already committed to.
Despite the lack of an album, Cardi did deliver on those features. In 2024, she released “Wanna Be (Remix)” with GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion and “On Dat Money” with Rob49. She also dropped chart-topping solo tracks with “Like What (Freestyle)” and “Enough (Miami).” These songs added to a notable discography of singles, features, and collaborations since Invasion of Privacy.
2024 also included personal milestones and challenges for the “Press” rapper, including the birth of her third child with her husband, Offset. She also filed for divorce from the Migos rapper for a second time, and it seems to be sticking.
Though we don’t have a concrete release date or tracklist, there have been several signs of progress.
Last year was a tough one for Cardi, but she took to Instagram Live in November to share that 2025 would be different. “I’ve been feeling so emotional lately. Because I know next year is going to be my f--king year,” she declared. Next year, my album will be out.”
Cardi had already tweeted in September 2024 that her album cover had been photographed, though she didn’t share any images. Last March, she revealed that she had a hundred unreleased songs to pick from for the project. Another tweet, sent this January, confirmed there would be at least 20 tracks on the album. So, while we don’t have a tracklist yet, we know she’s going big.
A TMZ article also hinted at possible album titles. The outlet reported that Cardi’s company, Washpoppin Inc., filed trademark applications for phrases to be used in “pre-recorded albums featuring music.” Those phrases were “Am I the Drama?,” “Defamation of character,” and “Intrusive thoughts,” which all feel like a good fit for a follow-up to Invasion of Privacy.

Will Cardi’s sophomore album live up to the standard she set?
Though we haven’t confirmed Cardi B’s 2025 album release date, title, or track list, what we know for sure is that the bar is set high. Invasion of Privacy won the 2019 Grammy for Best Rap Album, making her the first female rapper to earn the award. The album broke other records, too. Cardi is the artist with the most simultaneous Billboard Hot 100 entries by a woman and Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Hot 10 entries in a single week.
It's no surprise that Cardi’s feeling the pressure. She told Vogue, “. . . it’s scary because it’s like, now you got to top your first album, and then it’s like damn. I wonder if people are gonna relate to the new things, to the new life, to the new s--t that I gotta talk about.”
The success of Cardi’s releases last year proves fans are still riding with her and eagerly awaiting her new music. If she sticks to the lyricism and sincerity people know and expect from her, we’re sure she’ll have another winner on her hands.
