The Breakdown: Regina Hall has delivered some unforgettable performances in both comedy and drama, solidifying her place as a Hollywood favorite. This list highlights some of her most iconic roles and showcases her versatility. Discover which of her films stand out as must-watch favorites.
Regina Hall has been acting for almost three decades, captivating audiences with her range. We've seen her in a variety of roles, from Scary Movie and Love & Basketball to First Sunday and many more.
Ranking her movies isn’t easy because there’s no one-size-fits-all — her talent crosses multiple genres. However, we’ll give it a try! Here’s our list of the best Regina Hall movies ranked.
5. Honk For Jesus: Save Your Soul (2022)

Regina Hall in 'Honk for Jesus: Save Your Soul'.
Although this movie isn’t the most popular, it’s certainly appreciated. Regina Hall plays Trinitie Childs, the First Lady of a Southern Baptist megachurch, alongside her husband, Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs (Sterling K. Brown). The film depicts the rise and fall of their church’s success, with Trinitie serving as the backbone holding everything together — managing the church, supporting her husband, and navigating the pressures of their faith community.
It offers an interesting perspective on the challenges a First Lady endures. While she is the face of the congregation, she isn’t always prioritized in other areas of her marriage or respected as she should be. The movie provides a behind-the-scenes look at the difficulties of church leadership, the struggles of maintaining a certain lifestyle, and the weight of being a public figure in faith.
4. Girl’s Trip (2017)

Regina Hall in 'Girls Trip'.
We love a good sisterhood movie! Regina Hall stars as Ryan Pierce, a best-selling author and self-help guru in Girls Trip. She’s the celebrity of her friend group — the up-and-coming Oprah, if you will. Ryan gets the opportunity to be the keynote speaker at Essence Fest in New Orleans, and of course, she has to bring her besties along for the ride.
Her inner circle includes Sasha Franklin (Queen Latifah), Lisa Miller Cooper (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Dina (Tiffany Haddish). As we all know, a girls' trip wouldn’t be complete without its fair share of drama, baggage, and healing.
‘Think Like a Man’ (2012)

Regina Hall and Terrance J in 'Think Like a Man Too'.
Regina Hall is one of few actresses who can take on a role that’s both hilarious and serious. In Think Like a Man and Think Like a Man Too, she plays Candace, a woman who believes she may have found "the one" — until she realizes her potential soulmate, Michael (played by Terrence J), is a mama’s boy in the worst way.
Throughout both movies, Candace navigates her relationship while dealing with Michael’s overbearing mother (played by Jennifer Lewis), who is constantly involved in her son's business. In the sequel, Michael and Candace take the next step and get engaged, with plenty of drama along the way.
2. ‘Scary Movie’ (2000)

The Scary Movie series is undoubtedly one of the best. Why? Well, aside from the fact that the Wayans brothers created the franchise, it also gives us the chance to see Regina Hall in a different light — pure comedy.
For many of us, Scary Movie was our first introduction to Regina Hall as an actress. She plays Brenda Meeks, one of the few Black characters to survive in a horror movie — redefining the common stereotype that Black characters rarely make it to the end. Throughout the series, she finds herself caught up in hilariously absurd situations.
2. ‘The Best Man’ (1999)

Regina Hall and Sanaa Lathan in 'Best Man Holiday'.
In The Best Man movie and show series, Regina Hall plays Candy. In the first film, Candy is a stripper, and Murch falls in love with her at first sight. Eventually, she leaves that life behind and becomes Murch’s wife in the sequel, The Best Man Holiday.
Candy goes through a complete transformation — not only becoming a wife but also a mother and a career woman, working in education and running charter schools alongside her husband.
Out of all Regina’s roles, we rank this one as number one because it showcases the most character development we've seen from her on screen. In The Best Man: The Final Chapters, we continue to see Candy evolve, always striving for growth within herself and her marriage.
Regina’s resume speaks for itself, filled with roles we know and love. While we’ve curated only five of the best Regina Hall movies ranked, there are many more that showcase her incredible talent. Her range is one for the books — she can deliver sadness, comedy, sex appeal, seriousness, and so much more. Let’s take a moment to give Regina Hall her well-deserved flowers!
