HBO just picked up a teen drama pilot starring Zendaya and will be produced by Drake. The new series will be called Euphoria, which is an American adaptation of the early 2010s Israeli teen drama.
Euphoria all ready boasts a huge cast with notable names like Maude Apatow, Brian “Astro” Bradley, Angus McLoud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, and Sydney Sweeney. Sam Levinson will write all ten episodes of Euphoria. He had recent writing success with the HBO original movie The Wizard of Lies.
The storyline will revolve around a group of hot teenage friends as they go through self-discovery with drugs, sex, trauma and social media just like it’s Israeli counterpart. Zendaya will be playing the role of Rue, who is described as a 17-year-old drug addict, and has a habit of lying. This will be the 21-year-old’s most risqué role to date. She is very excited for the role and even posted a tease on her Instagram account.
Eurphoria marks the return of Drake to the teen drama universe, even though this time he is not acting but producing. Before music, Drake was a teen actor on the hit Canadian teen drama series, Degrassi: The Next Generation, playing the iconic character, Jimmy Brooks. Eurphoria also marks Zendaya return to television, since she played the lead role of Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel’s Shake it up. After becoming a Disney darling, Zendaya have been turning herself into a movie star in films like Spiderman: Homecoming (2017) and The Greatest Showman (2017). The upcoming HBO series will 100 percent be must-see television in 2019.
