Season 3 of Issa Rae‘s Insecure is set to premiere on August 12th on HBO. The official trailer for the highly-anticipated new season debuted last night during the BET Awards.
If you slept on this hilarious comedy series, let me wake you up. Insecure is about the life of Issa Dee (Rae) and Molly Carter (Yvonne Orji), best friends trying to figure out life and get their lives together in the process. Throughout the show, they deal with their real-life flaws, insecurities, uncomfortable everyday experiences, and social and racial issues related to the contemporary black experience.
SPOILER ALERT: Based on what we can gather from this short trailer, Issa is still in some kind of “situationship” with Daniel King (Y’lan Noel) and it looks tragic, she’s also still on her “no feelings” dating spree but the men are all a fail, and lastly her coworker Frieda (Lisa Joyce) is still trying to understand black culture and appropriation.
There is no real answer to how Issa and Molly deal with life’s challenges — but we can all expect a good laugh from it. I think I can speak for a few Insecure fans and say this is a must-watch series for all people. Whether you’re watching it to laugh your way through the same experiences or you’re watching to embrace, understand, and ultimately celebrate black women, Insecure is certainly a must watch series!
