Spring’s almost here! Well, there’s still a lot of time left, but let’s look to the past for some vintage inspired hair!
Although the past was the real national emergency, there were always #blackgirlmagic spells cast on our overall culture. While heavily under appreciated at the time, the styles were stunning, and fitting for the versatility of black hair.
1940’s Style by Angelique Noire
Angelique Noire, known as Instagram’s @theblackpinup, provides several tutorials for vintage black hair.
Her website states:
-“When I began my journey to creating 1940s/1950s hairstyles using my naturally kinky/curly hair texture, I found NOTHING! There were no inspiration photos, no hair tutorials for vintage hairstyles for natural hair, NOTHING! Often times Black chose to chemically straighten their hair during these earlier decades in order to make their appearance more acceptable…that’s a whole other topic. As a result, I decided to just create my own styles, and still do so today. Over the years, since I had begun posting videos, I have seen quite a few hair tutorials pop up with pinup inspired hairstyles using natural textures.”

We’re glad she pioneered the way to bring her expertise, and vintage looks to the present. What a Bombshell.
