Last week in Queen Lizzo‘s world, the truth hurts still for some, but not Justin Timberlake. The “Sexy Back” star took to social media to share a behind-the-scene video of himself and Lizzo in the studio, teasing a collab. The clip sees JT dancing as “Truth Hurts” singer waves her arms in excitement to some bouncy tunes. Lizzo later posted the clip on her Instagram stories with the text “Did some Rap Sh*t Wiff JT.”
2019 has been a very big year for Lizzo: she is set to perform at the 2019 MTV VMAs airing from New Jersey on August 26th, and Billboard reported that her breakthrough hit Truth Hurts might still qualify for the 2020 Grammys despite its release in 2017. It has to do with the Grammy process – not only was the female-breakup-empowerment track first dropped as a single and not in an album, it was also never submitted for contention.
The platinum-selling “Truth Hurts” peaked at No. 4 on Billboard‘s all-genre Hot 100 chart, and has reached No. 2 on both the Hot R&B/Hip Hop songs and Hot Rap songs charts. Not to mention the powerful lyrics and beat that took many women worldwide out of the sadness of a rejection or a bitter breakup. It’s 2019, babes, we are all noncommittal! Nominees for the Grammy Awards will be announced on November 20th. Fingers crossed for a bad b*tch!
