The funk-soul-blues band, The Gold Souls, released the music video for their latest single “True Blue” on Wednesday. Since 2017, the band of five hailing from the Bay and Sacramento area, are slowly making their way up in the industry. Despite being a relatively new group, their single “Nobody“ was released in 2017 and impressively made it to Apple Music Blues’ Hot Tracks list.
“True Blue” was written by The Gold Souls’ drummer Billy D. Thompson and lead woman Juniper Waller, who says:
-“TRUE BLUE is inspired by the uncertainty and complexity of love. It juxtaposes the embrace of individual needs with the reach for romantic depth.”
“TRUE BLUE is inspired by the uncertainty and complexity of love. It juxtaposes the embrace of individual needs with the reach for romantic depth.”
The track was then produced by multi-Grammy award-winning artist Timothy Bloom who also sings the backing vocals on the song.
The audio for “True Blue” is a fresh take on genre mixing—Juniper Waller‘s slow vocals will give you the vibes of rich blues and soul music with the grooves of funk music. In the music video, the alluring color-scapes and effects compliment Waller‘s voice. Kim Bernadette also beautifully captures the essence of the lyrics through her dancing performance. The Gold Souls forthcoming album is due later this year.
