Did someone say Spice Girls reunion? It was announced today that the Spice Girls will be doing a U.K stadium tour kicking off June 1st, 2019 in Manchester’s Etihad Stadium. The tour, which will be minus our beloved Posh Spice as Victoria Beckham will not be joining the reunion, was announced today on social media. The announcement was made in a short video where Emma Bunton, Mel B, Mel C, and Geri Halliwell were hosting a mock news broadcast.
This will be the first time the girls have performed together since the closing ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012 and their first tour in over a decade. The tour will be taking the girls to Manchester, Coventry, Bristol, Edinburgh and finishing in London. It was also announced that Jess Glynne will be opening for the Spice Girls on the U.K tour.
In a statement Victoria Beckham reasoned as to why she wouldn’t be joining her former bandmates on the tour “Being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish my girls so much love and fun as they go back on tour, I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time!”.
While some fans are calling Posh Spice selfish for this decision others are ecstatic that they will get the see the 90’s girl band on tour again. The four remaining band members have expressed their excitement with Geri Halliwell stating “I am so excited, together we celebrate girl power with our fans and the next generation and everyone is welcome.”
Tickets for the reunion tour go on sale Saturday 10th November.
