Rina Mushonga is an electronic/afropop artist that has lived in India, Zimbabwe, and the Netherlands before settling down in London. The India-born Dutch-Zimbabwean‘s artistic voice has evolved over time as she moved across the globe, to what it is today: unbounded, eclectic, and contains multitudes.
Her upbringing in India, Zimbabwe, and the Netherlands has, in her own words, “cultivated a sense of openness and an eagerness to mix things up” and broadened her pallet of references. Now she resides in Peckham, a vibrant town in South London that houses tens of thousands of young creatives and multicultural artists.
-“I think Peckham’s inspired me so much because it sort of brings together bits and pieces of all the places I’ve lived — I like the community spirit here and the multiculturalism is something I really identify with.”

Her unique viewpoint on the world is exactly what makes her 1980’s-inspired synth pop stand out from the mainstream. With her 2014 debut album The Wild, The Wilderness she was only just starting to gain recognition with her powerful vocals, synth layerings, fiery beats, and afropop inflections. More than four years later, she makes a much bolder comeback with her latest album In A Galaxy. You can listen to Rina Mushonga‘s new tracks here.
