Review: Purito Deep Sea Water Cream

Purito is a Korean skincare brand focusing on simple natural ingredients that won’t damage your skin barrier. The brand has been all over skincare TikTok Instagram and YouTube, where I first heard about the deep seawater cream.
The product is a moisturizer comprised of 60% deep seawater, which according to the brand, only exists below 200m and hydrates the skin from the inside out. There is also 2% Niacinamide, a highly sought-after ingredient that can help skin concerns such as hyperpigmentation. There are also hydration superstars panthenol and hyaluronic acid. It’s also fragrance and essential oil-free, so highly unlikely to irritate.
The ingredient list is impressive.
It has all the good stuff and none of the bad stuff. It’s a little pricey at $20 for 1.7 fl. oz. (Although it can usually be found cheaper on IHerb).
In terms of performance, it didn’t live up to the hype. I have dry skin and saw it online recommended for dry skin. But after using a whole tube, I have to disagree. It wasn’t strong enough for my skin. I felt the need to reapply often throughout the day, and after using it at night woke up with my skin feeling tight and taught.
The texture felt lovely going on; it’s a cooling, soothing gel/lotion consistency. But typically, dry skin needs thicker creams. As basic as it is, I have to recommend the CeraVe Moisturizing cream for my dry-skin brethren. It’s a simple thick cream with ceramides to restore the skin barrier and deeply moisturize.
I don’t think the Purito Deep Sea Water cream is a bad product; that ingredient list is on the money. But it’s not up to the job of dry to dehydrated skin. For those with normal or oily skin, it may be worth a shot.
