It can be tough to balance friends and relationships. To know when to spend time with the homies and when it is time to make time for your significant other. Both are important and it is a topic that can be and will always be a topic of conversation. Here are some tips to keep everyone around you sane.
When you are with your friends it is important to really be invested and interested in their lives. It may have been a long time since you have seen them or a long time since you have spoken, so when you do have the chance to get together and catch up you should really take that time to catch up. Ask them about what is going on in their life, how their family is doing, what they have been working on. This level of commitment and interest, and simply the knowing that you care and can be reached when they need to talk to you is really all a friend can ask for.
The balance of a relationship can be even more complicated for various reasons but the same basic principle applies. The fact of being present, aware, and emotionally available is the key to everything. So when you are with your significant other be with them and only with them. It can be easy to check Instagram or texts on your phone but fight, fight that urge with everything you have. The beauty of being in a relationship is being with the person you love and sharing that connection in sharing joys, insecurities, and dreams. What can compare on Instagram?
