Zazie Beetz's Future in Film: Anticipated Projects

Since announcing herself in the world of entertainment in her role as Van in the FX show Atlanta, Zazie Beetz has grown immensely as an actress Following her breakout role, she has gone on to appear in a variety of projects, including Deadpool 2 and Joker. In the movies, the star plays the roles of Domino and Sophie Dummond, respectively.

The Bullet Train actress has a long list of projects slated for release in 2023 and 2024. With that said, here’s a quick rundown of some of the upcoming Zazie Beetz projects to look out for over the coming year.

Back in 2021, it was announced that Zazie Beetz would star in the HBO MAX miniseries Full Circle. The series follows the events of an investigation into a failed kidnapping attempt. After the failed plot, the investigation uncovers an intricate web of long-hidden secrets that span the entire city of New York – the show's location setting.

In the show, Zazie Beetz plays the role of Mel Harmony – a U.S. Postal Fraud inspector. She is tasked with looking into the botched kidnapping of Nicky – the intended victim being Jared, the son of Derek and Sam Browne (an affluent couple in the city). Despite being kicked off the case, Harmony works hard to follow the facts of the case, ultimately revealing Sam’s hidden secrets.

In an interview with Collider, the actress talked about how she found her motivation to connect with her character and the struggles of shooting all the episodes all at once.

In this installment of the Black Mirror series, Zazie Beetz plays the role of Bo – a paparazzi photographer struggling financially. Seeing how her pursuit of a payday can reap subjects apart, Bo decides to step back a bit. However, with bills piling up, she is pulled back in when her colleague Hector comes knocking on her door with an opportunity for one last paycheck.

Beetz will also be returning for the second season of the animated superhero show, Invincible. The show follows the life of half superhero half Korean American, Mark (also known as Invincible). In the show, the Joker star voices Amber. Beetz’s character accidentally finds herself in a love triangle with Mark and Atom Eve, when she develops feelings for him.

The second season of Invincible was scheduled for release in November 2023.

2019’s Joker was the second major Marvel film that starred Zazie Beetz. A sequel was announced in 2022 – after the success of the initial installment. The follow-up to the first movie will reprise the Sophie Dummond (played by Beetz) character. In the film, Sophie is a single mother who lives next to Arthur Fleck.

Very little is known about Sophie’s story in the new movie. Talking about what fans should expect, Beetz told Variety, “I think people will be surprised.” The movie is expected to have a musical element and is slated for release in 2024.
