A Long-Awaited Return
SZA’s followers had to go for quite a while without a new album from the singer. The “Broken Clocks” star released her second album, “SOS,” five years after her last installment back in 2018 – in the form of the highly successful “Ctrl.” Even during this inactive period, the singer-songwriter’s appeal grew thanks to her collaborative projects with artists like Drake and Doja Cat. In addition to keeping her in the conversation for most talented and successful artists, these projects also kept her fans waiting for more. When the time came, SZA did not disappoint. The talented singer’s sophomore album has cemented her place at the helm of R&B. The project bagged her numerous wins at the recently concluded Soul Train Awards.
Spotify Wrapped ranked SZA among the most streamed artists across the world in 2023. The “Good Days” singer was listed among other top performing artists, including Drake, Bad Bunny and The Weeknd. At the top spot was another female artist, Taylor Swift.
In terms of hard figures, the “Snooze” hit-maker bagged a whopping 6.3 billion streams on the Spotify platform. She also logged 311.3 million hours from 198 million listeners spread out across 184 countries. This is a huge achievement, considering that the world has just over 190 countries.
SZA’s ability to reach and connect with a broader audience was further highlighted by the fact that her hit, “Kill Bill,” was ranked second on the list of Top Global Songs of 2023.
The singer-songwriter did not stop there, as she went a step further and took the third spot on the list of Top Global Albums of 2023 thanks to her highly successful second album, “SOS” – which was released in late 2022.
2023 marks the year that SZA moved to a whole new level of superstardom in R&B. The singer’s sophomore album, “SOS,” is not only a chart-topper but is also setting the stage for her global domination.
