Mug Murry in ‘A Wrinkle in Time’

A Wrinkle in Time is a 2018 thriller where Storm Reid features as “Mug Murry.” The movie was a Disney adaptation of Madeleine L'engle's classic novel, and Storm brought depth and vulnerability to the character she portrayed. It took a second for me to kind of build the confidence and know this was meant to be because I was freaking out,” she told NPR of the role. “Even though I was more confident and comfortable, I was still going in the corner and kind of pinching myself, and making sure this was, like, not a dream, but it was so much fun to have them and have them help me.”

Kai in the ‘Invisible Man’

The 2020 film Invisible Man was another great movie where Storm Reid was featured. In the thriller, Storm played Sydney, the younger sister of James (Aldis Hodge). “I was blown away by the script,” she told Flickering Myth. “what caught my attention was I loved that I was on the edge of my seat, but I also quickly recognized that he wanted it to be more than just a horror film. He was trying to say something about gaslighting and what women go through and just the toxic masculinity within the world, I knew that he was trying to say something.”

Tyla in the ‘The Suicide Squad’

In this action movie, Storm Reid portrayed the daughter of Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, a mercenary who is trying to shorten his prison sentence. Though she played a smaller part here, her impactful presence was noticeable through the emotional depth she contributed to the movie. “All of my characters have had their moments of breaking free and expressing themselves unabashedly. I did get to experience a lot of that in Euphoria, where everything is basically high stakes and very emotional — especially in Season 2. I mean, it wasn’t unfamiliar,” she shared with Variety.

Storm Reid Is a Fearless Actor

While she is not shy to play smaller roles in a movie, it is easy to tell that Storm Reid is more inclined towards playing characters that offer substance and depth in any role — just look at her more recent portrayal of Riley in The Last of Us, which earned her an Emmy. She seems to prefer roles that challenge her and bring out the best in her. Her ability to convey emotions and resilience in her performances shows how she has mastered her craft to become one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood.
