Skyla Tylaa is a rising artist, a talented Amapiano DJ and singer-songwriter. She grew up in a world full of art and music. From around the age of 4 to 16, she was involved in singing and acting. Although Skyla enjoyed singing, she felt it wasn’t her strongest suit. Instead, she tried DJing and in an interview with Deeds, she said, “It started as a joke among my friends in school, but when I finally tried it, I fell in love.” Since then, DJing has become more than just a hobby for Skyla, it’s an embodiment of who she is.

Skyla’s DJ skills bring people together, there’s a real sense of community at her sets. Her energy radiates off the stage, and people genuinely connect with the music she plays. On September 19, 2025, she dropped a single titled “Black Music – Club Mix.” It’s a club track with deep grooves and strong Amapiano influences. The song opens with the line, “Black Music, what is Black music?”, then dives into the idea that Black music isn’t something you can just explain. It’s something you feel. This single proves that. It’s infectious and soulful, the kind of beat that moves through your body and feeds the soul with joy.
During the pandemic, she was living with her family in Ghana. Skyla wanted to continue exploring her passion for DJing, and since the second lockdown was less strict, she was able to find more opportunities to perform at clubs. She truly has a love for the craft, researching the locations of her gigs, asking locals what music they want to hear, and immersing herself in the crowd. For Skyla, DJing isn’t just about the music—it’s about the people, the energy, and the sense of community that forms with every beat.
