Ryan Destiny's '90s-Inspired Pacsun Collection

Ryan Destiny is a multi-hyphenated artist who excels in acting, singing, and dancing. The “Do You” singer made a name for herself in the T.V. industry when she starred in Lee Daniel’s hit show Star. Since then she has appeared in Freeform’s Grown-ish and starred in the biopic movie Flint Strong. Destiny is also considered to be a style icon, thanks to her passion for fashion.

In mid-2022, Pacsun announced its collaboration with the talented entertainer. According to the brand, the project would involve three drops. The third drop arrived in mid-2023, in the form of a ‘90s-inspired collection.

Destiny said that she chose to work with Pacsun because, in addition to representing the youth, she felt that the brand has a good understanding of current and future trends. The Grown-ish star also admitted that she felt like the brand was a reflection of her fashion sense.

In a press release, Pacsun’s Women’s Buying Director, Abbie Hutzler said the ‘90s-inspired drop was bound to resonate with the brand’s target market. This she said was because’ 90s nostalgia was currently trending among Pacsun’s consumers. She also stated that the collection, which incorporated contemporary elements in ‘90s fashion, was a result of, “Ryan Destiny's creative vision combined with Pacsun's commitment to quality and style.”

On her part, Destiny’s artistic ability is seen through the way she blends menswear and grunge to create a uniquely visible contemporary appeal that captures the imagination of Gen Zs. Simply put, every outfit in the collection is both trendy and sophisticated.

The Ryan Destiny Collection is characterized by unique style elements. For starters, to introduce elements of utilitarian style, cargo details take center stage in the designs. She adds feminine notes with the help of delicate mesh and lace details, while cargo accents on skirts and parachute pants introduce a refreshing grunge element. The Star actress also created unique designs by using contemporary fashion to complement vintage charm through the introduction of modern profiles with nostalgic ‘90s-style low-rise bottoms.

Destiny wanted people to feel the same way she does when wearing her pieces – this prompted her to use her favorite colors (brown, green, and blue) in the designs.
