The Love Saga Continues: Are Ryan Destiny and Keith Powers Back Together?

One of the most exciting and heartwarming things to see in Hollywood is when two young Black superstars start a budding relationship. That was the case in 2019 when Ryan Destiny and Keith Powers officially announced they were together after long rumors about the couple.

However, at the start of 2022, People magazine announced that the black love couple was splitting up without giving any specific reasons. This broke the hearts of their fans of course. However, after being spotted together a couple of times, and a few Instagram posts suggesting the two were at the same place, rumors began to spread that the two were secretly still together!

The Destiny and Powers love saga began way back in 2015 when they met at a Teen Vogue party. They quickly became friends, and people began to speculate that they were more than just that.

At first, they denied all rumors. But four years later in 2019, they finally came out as a couple. "I realized I was in love when I knew my life would be extremely affected in a negative way if Ryan wasn't in it," Powers told WeTheUrban. "It is so important for our people to see healthy Black love… Whether it's a relationship, marriage, or even friendships. Black love gives us hope. When you see Black love flourish, it's powerful."

Destiny and Powers went on to work on several projects together that year, including a Calvin Klein campaign, as well as appearing in a Big Sean music video. Despite this, they mostly tried to keep their relationship private.

"The more you keep private the happier you'll be. It's not easy being in a public relationship” Powers said. While Destiny added, "We try to find a balance," "I'm already a private person and very career driven so reminding people that I am my own person is important."

While the details of Destiny and Powers’ breakup in 2021 are unclear, the source that told People magazine about the split also added, "They're taking time to focus on themselves and their emerging careers but are remaining close friends." The split came as a shock to fans of the Black couple, especially since there were no concrete reasons given for the split. However, the part that said the two are remaining close friends gave many people hope.

This hope was further kindled in 2023 when people began noticing the two together at events and movie premieres, even posing together on the red carpet. As if that wasn’t enough, Powers posted pictures of his birthday cruise on Instagram. While Destiny wasn’t in the pictures, she also posted her own pictures of the same cruise a few days later, leading people to connect the dots and speculate that they were together.

Whether the couple is back together or not remains private. Fans are itching for them to make an announcement. And, as Powers said, fans want to celebrate black love. But all we have now are those mysterious Instagram posts by the two.
