Ever since Rihanna released “Pon de Replay” in 2005, her name has been iconic. Nine Grammys, 14 Billboard Music Awards, and multiple record-breaking songs later, Rihanna is truly one of the most influential singers of our time.
But aside from her stellar music career, Rihanna is also taking to the business world. Like her music, Rihanna's entrepreneurial ventures have been super successful, a testament to how smart and hardworking she is.
To make things even better, Rihanna isn’t like other businessmen who are only after more money. Instead, Rihanna uses her platform and businesses to provide options for less privileged communities!
Fenty Beauty, Rihanna’s Cosmetics Company
Of all her ventures, Fenty Beauty is by far the most well-known. Launched in 2017, Rihanna’s cosmetics company has been hugely successful, reporting around $550 million in revenue in the first year alone. Recently, Forbes valued the company at a staggering $2.8 billion, one of the biggest in the beauty industry.
At the heart of Fenty Beauty’s success was their core: inclusivity. For too long, the beauty industry was dominated by products that catered to white people. BIPOC people had limited options, and too many of the cosmetics left them with subpar results.
That’s why Rihanna set out to change this. Fenty Beauty’s products are designed with people of color in mind, and not, as so often is the case, as an afterthought. One of the very first products of Fenty Beauty was 50 shades of foundation, something that’s never been done before.
Because of Fenty Beauty’s massive success, it has been changing the landscape of the beauty industry. Nowadays, more and more brands feel the need to be more inclusive, and more are starting to cater to the BIPOC community. Rihanna was not only successful in creating a company, but she is also successfully changing the culture.
Fenty Fashion
But Rihanna didn’t stop at cosmetics! In 2018, Rihanna launched Savage X Fenty, a lingerie brand. But like everything Rihanna, this wasn’t just some traditional lingerie brand like everything else on the market. Savage X Fenty was made with body inclusivity in mind!
Savage X Fenty was designed for all body types, regardless of size, shape, and ethnicity. They don’t only create standard designs but also come out with new exciting, and creative ones, empowering women of all backgrounds to feel confident in their skin.
Rihanna also launched a Fenty clothing line in 2019. Unfortunately, the company slowed down during the pandemic and was on a slow road to recovery. In 2021, Rihanna decided to put her efforts into Savage X Fenty, and the clothing line went into a hiatus.
Rihanna’s Vision
Rihanna is not only a wildly successful singer and entrepreneur, but she’s also a visionary. All her entrepreneurial ventures have a very clear “why.” Rihanna is pushing to ensure that people of all colors, shapes, and sizes have what they need to empower themselves.
Whether it’s Fenty Beauty or Savage X Fenty, Rihanna’s companies are far from traditional brands that build their products around white people. And with her success, Rihanna is completely changing these industries.
