It's undeniable that Megan Thee Stallion has been making significant headway in the music industry. Not only has she released groundbreaking songs and visuals, but she has also boldly shown the world what it looks like to be a hot girl unapologetically. Recently, Megan has stepped into the world of film in a hilarious role in Dicks: The Musical, which was released in October 2023. This musical is definitely different from the one you want to take your grandmother to see.
It's racy and edgy, and Megan Thee Stallion changed the game with her role as "Gloria."
What is ‘Dicks: The Musical’ About?
Directed by Larry Charles, this hilarious musical comedy is all about... well, you guessed it. It celebrates all things phallic, packed with humor and great music. The film, starring Josh Sharp and Aaron Jackson, follows the journey of two arrogant businessmen who discover they are identical twins and hatch a plan to get their divorced parents back together.
Emmy-award-winning actress Megan Mullally and Broadway legend Nathan Lane play their parents. Broadway-style dance numbers and humorous tunes accompany the twists and turns of the story with lyrics like "My c–k is f–king massive." It's a wild ride you'll surely enjoy if you love musicals and bold, risky type comedy.
Gloria: Megan Thee Stallion's Role
Megan plays the role of Gloria, the main character's boss. Writers had yet to learn who would play the role initially, so it was crafted for a singer. The anthem Gloria performs to put the twin brothers in their place is called "Out Alpha the Alpha." When Megan Thee Stallion was selected to play Gloria, Jackson, and Sharp rushed to rework the song to make it fit a more hip-hop style. Jackson told Entertainment Weekly, "Of course, she could do whatever she wanted, but then she just rapped every wild line. She said, 'People know I'm dirty but y'all are dirty.' We couldn't believe she did it. She was very much down to clown, on board, didn't question anything, and was just like, 'I want to do this crazy stuff y'all wrote. Let's do this dumb thing together."
Megan's seamless transition into musical-ready form was complete when she came onset and learned choreography on the spot. Her dazzling performance wowed the writers and producers.
"Out Alpha the Alpha"
Not only did Megan Thee Stallion make her musical debut, but she also contributed to the soundtrack. The song "Out Alpha the Alpha" showcases Megan in all her glory. Her character, Gloria, gets challenged by her employees, and this musical number is her bold way of putting them back in their place.
The theme of the song fits well with her normal feminist tone and paints men as needy and a tad bit weak. She proudly boasts about her success and wealth while demanding the respect she rightly deserves. The song's lyrics encourage women to have grit and be steadfast in male-dominated spaces, where women often feel powerless. In the end, the song even paints a picture of how wonderful a female-dominated world would be, illustrating the beauty of equality.
Her delivery shows an unapologetic queen, and we absolutely love to see it!
