Lashana Lynch's Powerful Role in 'One Love' Biopic Set to Shine in 2024

Lashana Lynch, the multiple-award-winning British actress, portrayed Rita Marley in the Bob Marley biopic, One Love and her performance has given her fans lots to talk about. It is quite evident that Lashana spent quite a bit of time studying everything about Rita Marley to act in the film. The way she talks, acts, and portrays Rita Marley shows just how talented Lashana is — and how far she has evolved in the industry.

According to the Times of India, Lashana had most of Rita Marley’s physical looks, and that could have played a vital role in her hiring for the role. She might not be an expert in the Jamaican language but she did learn a great deal to fit into the role perfectly. Lashana didn’t audition for the role; she seems to fit perfectly into it and no other actress could have played it better.

She also passed numerous chemistry tests performed to see how much she blends with Kingsley Ben-Adir, who played her on-screen husband Bob Marley. “For the last seven months, I have had the honour of learning, spending time with and embodying Mrs. Rita Marley. I cannot wait to share her experience with you all and remind the world of her power and love,” she wrote on social media at the time of its release. “I’m always so charged after a role, but this as an artist, as an emotional being, as a melanated woman, and as a Jamaican, to use the [word] ‘changed’ would be an understatement.”

The movie, directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green is slated to hit theaters in February 2024, and fans can expect another powerhouse performance in Lashana and her co-star Kingsley Ben-Adir. “The more I dug into Bob,” Kingsley told Entertainment Weekly, “the more I realized that music was really everything to him. It really saved him, and he separated himself from other artists around that time.”

Lashana Lynch is known for her energetic and outspoken characters, especially in movies like No Time to Die, and the Woman King. In these two movies, for instance, she portrayed a relentless warrior who doesn’t accept failure. She always fights to the very end in her movies and that is one of the things Rita Marley was known for.
