Starting a career from Tumblr, an ambitious Justine Skye didn’t know she’d get signed by Atlantic Records as a teenager. Earning Celebrity Status

Justine Syke’s music career was birthed on her Tumblr page. She posted her early demos, and people loved her style. The young artist wore purple hair and called herself the Purple Unicorn. Syke was destined for larger things in life, and before she knew it, she had been signed into Atlantic Records.

Shortly after getting signed, she released “Everyday Living.” A year later, the artist would release “Collide” with Tyga, which surprisingly has been trending recently on Tiktok years after its release. Justine left Atlantic Records in 2016 in pursuit of independence as an artist.

The talented songstress would go on to add more hits to her portfolio, such as “U Don’t Know” with Wizkid and “Back For More” with Jeremih. In 2020, the legendary Timbaland tracked Justine down, and they began working together on her third studio album, “Space & Time.” In an interview with BET, the artist talked about how Timbaland has helped shape her career. She said, “He's an amazing artist and producer. Also, to work with Justin Timberlake was excellent, too, because that's the music that I grew up listening to, you know. Working with these icons and having them support me in my career just gave me another boost of confidence and reassurance that I'm on the right path.”

Transition To Acting

It wasn’t until 2019 that Justine Skye tried venturing into television and film. Her experience in the music industry might have played a huge role in Justine’s successful transition to television and film.

The songstress also has powerful friends in the entertainment industry. Fellow singer SZA, model and best friend Hailey Bieber, and socialite Kendall Jenner constantly pushed her to reach her full potential.

Justine Skye landed roles in Grown-ish, How High 2, and Already Gone. The actress also appeared on ABC’s special, Superstar: Aaliyah as herself. Justine spoke to Coveteur and said, “I've been in this industry for so long, but I'm only just now figuring out who I am.” It’s evident fans can expect more work from Justine as she continues to discover more abilities in her career journey.

Reputation Is Delicate

Social media very much defines the lives of millennials and Gen Z. Justine has millions of followers on TikTok, showing how influential she’s become. While the singer occasionally takes to her page to showcase her lifestyle to followers, she received backlash for a TikTok video that might have been targeted at Selena Gomez.

As indicated earlier, the artist has had a long-standing close friendship with Hailey Bieber. For anyone who might not understand the back story, Hailey is married to Justine Bieber, who happens to be Selena Gomez’s ex-boyfriend. In the now-deleted video, Hailey, Justine, and Kendall lip-synced to a TikTok audio trend that fans speculate might have been targeted at Selena Gomez after she was body-shamed by paparazzi.

Many fans were not pleased by Justine’s participation in the video. The singer faced backlash and received threats from Selena fans. She took to X to defend herself. Hailey deleted the video shortly afterward and said that she did the video for fun. Clearly, Justine had some damage control to do.

Justine Skye has a crown to protect after earning rightfully her celebrity status. While the TikTok controversy dragged her through the mud for weeks, she recovered quite well. Now that she has a reputation to rebuild, fans likely won’t hear the ‘Purple Unicorn’ in any controversies.
