Jill Scott’s look can be described in two words: natural beauty.
From her hair to her skin to her beauty looks, Jill is always glowing, whether she is singing on stage, on the big screen, or on the red carpet. So, what is her secret?
Luckily, Jill has shared her tips and tricks for looking naturally beautiful from head to toe.
Jill Scott Swears By Three Products for Perfect Skin
It’s hard to stick to skincare routine when you have a busy schedule, and no one knows this better than Jill. That’s why she keeps it simple when she is on the road. “When I’m traveling, the makeup, lights, and heat gives me acne, which I don’t usually get,” she told WebMD. “So I use a Dermalogica facial wash, plus topical vitamin E. I also bring comfy pajamas. I like fabric that slides on my skin.”
Another go-to beauty product for Jill is Chapstick, which she always carries. “I have every ChapStick imaginable,” she added. “I have ChapSticks that nobody has — in flavors like Coffee Strawberry. I get them from boutiques and from out of the country.”
Her Fitness Routine Is Also Simple, But Consistent
In 2011, Jill lost over 60 pounds — and a decade later, she has managed to keep it off. At the time, she shared her workout routine with her fans, telling BET she does 60 minute cardio and strength-training exercises three times a week with her trainer, Scott Parker. This was a mix of kickboxing, boxing, or biking — sometimes riding her bike up to ten miles daily to relax and maintain a healthy life.
Jill Scott’s Hairstylist Share His Tips for Natural Hair
Jill is always changing up her hair, and that is due to the her longtime relationship with hairstylist Anthony Dickey — who has shared some solid tips for women who are starting on a natural hair journey. “Generally, the rule of thumb is to use as much conditioner as you have hair on your head, and that makes it much easier to elongate and detangle,” he told AARP.
He also advocates for picking the products that work for you, adding, “Styling gels, curl creams, sculpting lotions or setting lotions all fall under the category of styling products or fixatives; they fix the hair to the way that you like it.”
Follow a Healthy Diet, Which Means Avoiding Carbs
Along with working out, Jill credits her sustained weight loss (and glow) to what she is putting into her body. This means loading up on fruits and veggies, and avoiding carbs.
“I don’t beat myself up! I do what I can. But bread is my enemy. I love it. I love croissants. I’ll switch off to spelt bread,” she explained. “And then I try my best to eat more vegetables. I gain, I lose, but I refuse to be a slave to it. What’s most important to me at this stage of life is being healthy and feeling good.”
She also sticks to three low-fat meals and two snacks per day. And don’t forget to drink your water!
Jill Scott’s daily routine is definitely not daunting — and worth trying out.
