Most people may know Halle Bailey as one half of the music duo Chloe X Halle, alongside her eldest sister Chloe. As a duo, they have many awards to their name, including the 2019 Grammy Award for "Best New Artist" and "Album of the Year" at the 2018 Soul Train Music Awards.

In addition to capturing the hearts of many with her remarkable musical performance, Halle Bailey is also a talented actress. Her first appearance on TV was on the sitcom Grown-ish, but her breakthrough role came from the Disney Channel series Austin & Ally. However, she gained international recognition after playing Ariel in The Little Mermaid, based on the 1989 Disney animated film of the same title.

According to an interview on Scene Now, Halle Bailey notes that growing up, she watched The Little Mermaid repeatedly but never thought she would play her character. What piqued her interest in Ariel was her determination to fall in love with a human despite the warning from her father.

Halle states that she is a musician and considers the acting scene a new world. She's learning many new things, just like Ariel, who doesn't know much about the world above the sea and is surprised by the new things she's experiencing.

While filming The Little Mermaid, Halle Bailey auditioned for the movie musical The Color Purple. In one of the press conferences for the movie's launch, Halle stated that being approached for the role helped her feel "Closer to God." Auditioning for the role required that she submit a gospel song, and she decided to sing "It Is Well."

Halle states that playing Nettie in the movie felt like God was directing her to focus more on acting in the future.

She also credits her sister for helping her build on Nettie's personality, strength, and power. In the movie, Nettie is a character that symbolizes hope, joy, and perseverance, which Halle believes should be shown through us. Halle states that even in her darkest moments, she felt like she had great guidance from her sister, Chloe. The Color Purple is a film about two sisters who are driven apart from each other at a young age. The story mainly focuses on one of the sisters who is forced into marriage, and the audience goes on a journey throughout her life.

Halle and Chloe started by posting cover songs on their YouTube channel. Their impressive vocal abilities and soulful harmonies got the attention of Beyoncé, who signed them at Parkwood Entertainment. Under the management of the label, they continued to improve their musical ability until they released their EP in 2017.

Halle and her sister Chloe loved singing, and their musical talent helped bring them into the spotlight. While they may have made remarkable achievements as a duo, Halle's solo career in acting is now taking shape.
