A Stellar Cast Brings Characters to Life
Tessa Thompson, who moviegoers know from the Marvel Universe and the Creed series, now stars in the Netflix limited series His & Hers. The project also allowed her to bring her talents behind the scenes as an executive producer.
Thompson plays Anna Andrews, a former TV news anchor who has become a recluse in Atlanta until a murder occurs in her hometown of Dahlonega. The case reanimates her reporter spirit, and she doesn't hesitate to cover it. However, her presence back home isn’t necessarily welcomed.
Emmy winner and The Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal plays Jack Harper, a Dahlonega detective on the case who’s suspicious of Anna’s involvement. To further complicate matters, he’s also her estranged husband.
The Author Gives Two Thumbs Up
The series is based on the 2020 novel of the same name written by Alice Feeney. However, the book’s story takes place in England, while the Netflix series is set in Georgia.
Based on her Instagram post, the author likes what the creative team has done with her work:
“It is five years since HIS & HERS was first published, and when I think about the journey this book has been on, from being written in my shed, to beautiful editions of the book being published all over the world, to a Netflix TV series, it all feels like the most wonderful dream. The team making the TV series are amazing. I can’t wait for you to see it.”
A Strong Creative Team Leads Behind the Scenes
In addition to the impressive cast, a powerhouse of talent behind the camera helped with the conversion from page to screen. William Oldroyd directs the first episode of the psychological thriller while also serving as executive producer. He also acted as co-showrunner with fellow executive producer Dee Johnson.
Johnson co-wrote the series with Bill Dubuque. Kristen Campo, Jessica Chastain & Kelly Carmichael (Freckle Films), and Kishori Rajan (Viva Maude) round out the list of executive producers.
Look for the six-part series to arrive on Netflix on January 8, 2026.
