She was inspired by her mother’s method of preparing skin care mixture for family use, where she would heat shea butter and cloves and then create her own body butter concoctions.

It later inspired her to reformulate the products and turn them into a brand in 2017, to help other Black women preserve and improve their skin with natural, healthy products. “Now we have built this genuine relationship with the cooperative, going on for three years. We are a growing company. We are keeping the commitment,” she told The Cut in 2021. “I come from an education and therapy background, so a focus on that was especially important. These people are giving us their raw materials, so they should have health care if we can offer it because we are benefiting from their work.”
