While Lyric Ross is an up-and-coming actress, she doesn't attract attention to herself for the sake of it. As a matter of fact, she is very private if her socials are anything to go by. She doesn't post willy-nilly on social media and keeps her personal life out of the public eye. In an age where many people are chasing after Instagram fame, her approach to public life is refreshing.
However, that does not mean Ross has no interests outside of acting. She has many interests, many of which she has kept private.
She's an Avid Advocate for the Adoption of Foster Kids
Ross is an advocate for the adoption of kids in the foster system. She was named a celebrity ambassador for the "100 Percent Participation" campaign, joining other celebrities such as Leigh Anne Tuohy, Ben Higgins, and Tiffany Haddish. The 100 Percent Participation campaign by Orphan Myth seeks to get 100 percent of foster kids into safe and loving families.
Orphan Myth's primary goal is to increase awareness about the risk of kids being separated from their families in the United States and globally. They also work to mobilize resources and supporters to enhance family-based solutions for children at risk of being separated from their families and kids who have been separated.
Speaking to People about foster kids and the issue of kids not finding their forever homes, Ross noted that she was unaware of how serious the problem was. "It's an issue that has been overlooked for a very long time," Ross notes before adding that she "knew nothing about how serious this was."
She also noted that she might not be alone in not knowing how serious the issue of foster care is, saying, "I'm sure there are many people like me who know nothing about it."
Notably, she recognized the importance of fostering kids in our wider society. "It's too big of an issue for us to overlook and turn away. I'm glad to help in any way I can to bring more attention to this issue," she said.
Lyric Ross on How Her Role on ‘This Is Us’ Influenced Her Advocacy
Ross’s character Deja's background and character arc in This Is Us provide the audience with insights into the issues of the foster care system and the difficulties that many foster kids face while in the system. Importantly, This is Us also gave the audience insights into how beneficial finding a stable and supportive forever home can be for foster children. After all, Randall was adopted by a supportive and dedicated couple, Jack and Rebecca Pearson.
When discussing the 100 Percent Participation goal, Ross excitedly noted, "What an incredible goal, that would be amazing." She added, "Foster kids shouldn't have to go through what they go through. To see them with a happy ending and [find] a beautiful, genuinely loving family, of course, that's what we want to see."
They concluded, saying, "I'm sure that's what every good-hearted person in this world wants to see. And that's what we're aiming for."
Lyric Ross Is Also an Advocate for Fitness and Self-Care
Aside from actively rooting for foster kids to find homes, she is also into fitness. She has posted a few videos of her working at the gym on her socials.
While Ross does not spend her days updating her followers on everything she's doing, a peek into her life and interests shows she is an interesting individual. Notably, her work on-screen shows us she is a very talented actress poised to scale the heights in Hollywood. We can't wait to see what the future holds for Lyric Ross.
