Elaine Thompson-Herah was not the fastest runner during her school days. However, she has turned the tide — earning herself the fastest woman alive title — when it comes to the 100m race. The Olympic gold medalist is also the second-fastest in the 200m sprint.
To get to where she is, the sprinter has had to lean heavily into her relentless work ethic and the support of her family. Thompson-Herah captured the attention of the world when she won the 100m and 200m Olympic double in the 2016 games. In 2020, she was able to successfully defend her double, and even went a step further by helping her Jamaican 4X100m relay team secure gold at the Tokyo Olympic stadium.
In addition to being fast on the track, Thompson-Herah is known for her unique fashion sense. Her trackside style trends have had her fans buzzing throughout her career – endearing her to many more.
Here’s a breakdown of Thompson-Herah’s fashion choices.
Signing With Puma
In 2022, Thompson-Herah announced to the world that she was signing with Puma. The global brand has been working closely with Jamaican track and field athletes for many years. Thompson-Herah joins a long list of top-performing athletes sponsored by the brand, including her compatriot Usain Bolt. When making the announcement, the sprinter stated, “Puma just felt like the right fit.”
This partnership gives the 100m and 200m Olympic double winner the perfect platform to showcase her style and pursue her modeling dreams.
A Desire for Modeling
In August 2022, Thompson-Herah announced through her X handle (formerly Twitter) her desire to pursue a career in modeling. Describing modeling as something that involves way more than beauty and smiles, the Olympic champion stated, “Another dream I want to pursue.”
The announcement was followed by an outpouring of support from her fan base. The star athlete used the tweet to give her followers a sneak peek into her stylish ways by posing in an all-black and white sportswear outfit by Puma.
New York Fashion Week
Signing with Puma was the right choice for Elaine Thompson-Herah as the brand is determined to bring her dream of becoming a model to life. The highly accomplished athlete did not have to wait for long before walking the catwalk. In September 2022, Thompson-Herah and Usain Bolt appeared on New York Fashion Week as part of Puma’s Futrograde, a show combining the future, past and present.
The five-time Olympic gold medalist was over the moon after the experience, sharing an Instagram video of her on the runway paired with the caption, “Dream of walking down the runway finally come through.” The sprinter expressed her gratitude to Puma for making her dream come true. She also thanked Winnie Harlow – the model – for her tips.
