Our hair is like the weather, unpredictable with us not knowing which way it is going to go.
We can be sure to test every product until we discover it, especially in the natural haircare section of Target. Luckily for us, social media influencer Tabitha Brown has launched a haircare line at the national retailer — and it’s vegan just like her.
Here is everything you need to know about Tabita’s haircare line, Donna’s Recipe.
Donna’s Recipe Is Made Up of Six Hair Care Products
Tabitha was known for rocking her natural hair and protective styles on social media before the launch of her haircare line, which she named after her nickname for her hair. So, it was only natural that she created a line for women who also want to show off their crowns.
"I wanted people to feel empowered about their hair," Tabitha told Byrdie. "I embraced mine and gave her a personality. I wanted people to know that no matter how your hair rose, embrace it and have fun. Because some days [your hair] won't do what you want it to. Some days, Donna is not attached to me and has her own agenda."
The line includes five easy-to-use products: Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave-in Conditioner, Hair & Scalp Oil, and Hair Cream.
"When it comes to ingredients, a lot of people use silk amino acids, but silk amino acids are made from worms," she added. "Because we are vegan, we had to source a plant-based silk amino acid. We had to find a lab that knew how to do that and has had success before. Then, we had to test it to make sure it worked. There's so much testing that goes into [product development]."
In 2022, the collection became available at Ulta, expanding Tabitha’s empire even more.
Tabitha Brown Has Come a Long Way
Today, Tabitha is an accomplished content creator, author, and businesswoman, but she does not forget the years she struggled to make ends meet with her husband and two kids.
Tabitha moved to Los Angeles in 2004 to pursue acting, but it wasn’t until she was being herself, creating vegan food videos on social media that she found success. Now, she has partnerships with Target McCormick, and of course, her haircare line.
“For me having it all is being free," she explained to XONecole. "Like freedom, being completely who I am. No code-switching, no conforming, no shrinking myself to make anybody else feel big or comfortable. Being completely free. Not covering my accent anymore...Trying to constantly be a size two or four, wear my hair one way."
Her net worth is estimated at $4 million in 2023 — and she deserves every penny!
