Coco Jones: Rising Star at the Soul Train Awards 2023

Coco Jones has come a long way in the R&B genre and her journey has not been a roller coaster just like many R&B legends before her. She is the winner of the Best New Artist at the 2023 Soul Train Awards which is a crown on her career as an amazing singer who continues to influence her listeners through great performances and lyrics. Aside from the Soul Train Awards, Coco was nominated for 5 different categories for the Grammy Awards that will be hosted later in 2024.

Coco Jones's Standout Performance at the Soul Train Award

Coco Jones’ performance at the BET Soul Train Awards 2023 was a masterpiece. She spotted a purple dress and sang her heart out. She started with the performance of her hit single- “ICU”, getting the audience to sing along with her. Coco performed several other songs after ICU at the Soul Train Awards, she got her audience dancing and singing word for word.

Coco’s outfit at the event was stunning, she didn’t shy from flaunting her long legs and spotting elegant accessories to compliment her outfit. She sang boldly with her signature voice to mesmerize her audience and then went home with the prestigious Album of the Year Award. It couldn’t have been more glorious for Coco.

Though several other artists performed at the event, Coco’s standout performance remains the talk of the occasion on tabloids and online media outfits.

Coco Jones’s Journey and Future in R&B

Coco herself gave details to some media outlets online about how her “defeat” as a Disney Star made her embrace her R&B music journey with more seriousness. Coco is poised to become the next R&B star who will propel the music genre to the future.

She had launched her career as a child more than 20 years ago and the 24-year-old entertainer seemed to have disappeared from the limelight after a few years at Disney until 2020 when she re-appeared in the Peacock reboot of the famous “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” which was then titled “Bel-Air”. In the same year, Coco went on to release her EP “What I Didn’t Tell You” Which is the current best album in the market.

Her journey began in 2012 when she starred in Disney Channel’s movie “Let It Shine”. Unfortunately, Coco had to part ways with Disney 2 years later and for many years, she was acting independently, creating social media content and releasing music singles.

Coco Jones and the Future of R&B

In her interview with People Online Magazine, Coco felt defeated when she broke up with Disney and it took a while for her to respond to what people said about her on the internet. It was alleged that “colorism” was the issue she got disengaged from Disney.

Coco Jones eventually fought her way back into the mainstream music industry and she has not stopped working to become a better artist with many collaborations with bigger stars all lined up for her. Some of her songs were endorsed by legends including; Janet Jackson and Beyonce. Coco will surely take R&B to new heights, especially with Def Jam Records which is a top label known for their ability to manage and groom future stars to help them attain their best.
