China Anne McClain: Directing Her Own Narrative

China McClain is a very busy woman. From her guest roles on shows like 911: Lone Star to starring roles in “Daddy’s Little Girls” to her prestigious work on different shows and movies. But China Anne McClain’s first brush with fame came not from acting but from her singing.

China Anne grew up performing with her sisters. She still sings with them to this day in a group formally called “3mcclaingirls”, now known as Thriii.

China Anne McClain was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Her father was an accomplished music producer and her mother is a writer. China has two older sisters and a brother. Soon after her birth, China Anne and her family moved to California so that the artistic McClain children could live closer to Hollywood. Soon, the move paid off. That’s because China Anne McClain landed her first acting job when she was 7 years old.

It was around this time that her mother decided to homeschool her children. Throughout their childhood, the McClain children got busier and busier acting in movies and television, as well as forming singing groups. While China Anne McClain’s talents are sure to keep her busy for the next few years, she wants to branch out even more by producing her own projects.

In an interview with Teen Vogue, China Anne revealed that she is starting a production company with her family. Even though she did not share the company’s name, she is excited to get started.

“I have a lot of stories that I want to tell that I think are going to help a lot of these kids that are constantly tweeting me and leaving comments on my TikToks and Instagram posts about where they're at in life and how they've hit an all-time low, and how they're depressed and how they're anxious and stressed and they can't seem to get out of it,” she told the outlet. “I have projects that could actually help them and help those things. It was just time to go and time to focus on my babies that I'm developing with my production company and my family.”

Another outlet for China Anne’s creativity is her TikTok channel, where she has over 17 million followers.

On TikTok, China Anne shares messages about her faith, creates funny videos, and collaborates even more with her sisters, Sierra and Lauryn.

Speaking of her faith, China Anne added, “I haven't always been as close to [God] as I am now, but he's the main reason why I have peace when I'm not on a set somewhere… I can sit alone and be with my thoughts and be with myself and have peace in this indescribable joy because I know God now.”
