Her consistent hard work and dedication to excellence have become synonymous with her name. She is no stranger to 16-hour rehearsal days, strenuous workouts, and strict diets in preparation for tours and big performances. The kind of work ethic that she exhibits is rare and admirable. In 2006, she gained much attention for being on a "maple syrup fast" to lose weight for her role in Dreamgirls. Doctors and experts discouraged people from trying the fast as a way to lose weight because it is a very extreme method. Beyoncé tried a healthier method by trying a 22-day plant-based diet that she eventually doubled to 44 days in preparation for her iconic Coachella performance.

Maya Feller, MS, RD, CDN, a dietician in Brooklyn, NY, told Everyday Health, "Whether you are an animal lover, an environmental advocate, or want to live your healthiest life, being plant-based is the one underlying thread that seems to be compelling to so many of us."

Beyoncé's trainer, exercise physiologist Marco Borges, created the plan that she followed. After giving birth to her twins, Rumi and Sir, Beyoncé said she felt uncomfortable and wanted to shed some weight before headlining Coachella. She began her journey at 175lbs. The diet was pretty restrictive and didn't allow her to consume carbs, dairy, fish, meat, or alcohol. In the "22-Days Nutrition" video, Borges said this diet would improve energy, sleep, and complexion and boost mood. He also offers meal plans, recipes, and more on the website to help you get started.

Marco Borges also recommended exercise every day during the diet. He suggested that you switch it up but include strength training. Beyoncé can be seen doing intense workouts while rehearsing several hours daily. She never revealed her final weight, but if how she looked on stage at Coachella indicates the diet's effectiveness…we would say it works!
