In 2022, Beyoncé released her hit album "Renaissance" as a follow-up to her critically acclaimed album "Lemonade." The style of this album was new and fresh with elements of ballroom culture, '90s black house music, and bounce music that feels like you're at the club no matter where you play it. She took this musical masterpiece on a 56-show world tour that shifted the culture. She had everyone put together their finest chrome outfits, trying to recreate the showstopping fashion looks from the shows and practicing how to be "on mute." Beyoncé is known for creating engaging, eye-catching visuals with her albums; fans were expecting no different from her this time.

The Release of "Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé"

On December 1, 2023, Beyoncé released a concert film showcasing the journey of creation and execution of the Renaissance World Tour. It was released on World Aids Day in remembrance of her Uncle Johnny, who inspired the direction of this album by being the one to introduce her to Black ballroom culture and dance music before his untimely passing of AIDS.

The film allows fans to see Beyoncé again and how involved she is in every aspect of production, from choreography to lighting and stage setup. She is a perfectionist, and nothing short of excellence will do. Intimate moments with her husband and children are also shown throughout the film, which humanizes her and reminds the world that beyond those showstopping performances, she's still a normal mother and wife.

Beyoncé has the Midas touch, and her critically acclaimed concert film has been no exception. "Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce" opened in 2,539 theaters and has been an enormous success. Since the release, it has grossed $30.8 million in the U.S. and Canada and $38.8 million worldwide. The film was projected to gross between $17 and $20 million in its debut but surpassed that and hit $22 million. And it has the second-best opening weekend in history for the first week of December.
