After being recruited by J Cole and signing with his Dreamville Records label, Ari Lennox released her first EP “Pho” – in 2015. A few years later, the singer was making waves in the music industry, courtesy of her debut album, “Shea Butter Baby.” The project — which was released in 2019 — propelled her to the top with chart-topping hits like “Whipped Cream” and “BMO.”

The year 2022 saw the famed R&B singer release her sophomore studio album, “Age/Sex/Location”. The project further reaffirmed the soulful singer’s status as one of today’s best artists as far as the genre is concerned. The album featured top tracks such as “Pressure” and “Hoodie.”

In 2023, Ari only released one single — “Get Close”. However, the artist is busy, working on a variety of upcoming projects – including her highly anticipated third studio album. Continue reading for a run-through of Ari’s planned projects for the coming year.

Upcoming Album

According to reports, Lennox is working on finalizing her third studio album. While it is not clear whether “Get Close” – which was released on November 17th – is going to be part of her third album, fans are hopeful that the soulful singer’s project is somewhere on the horizon.

The songstress and her label have been very quiet about the upcoming drop – keeping fans guessing about the release date. But, it is widely believed that Lennox and her team are simply putting together the final touches on the album – and it should be out sometime in 2024.

Concerning her upcoming LP, the singer told Angela Yee on the Way Up podcast that she and her team already had settled on five songs as a foundation, and were working on adding 10 more to complete the project. And while she did not give any hints on when the project would be finalized, she added, “Then, I want to drop a 9-song project; I think that’s so clean.”

Collaborations

While fans continue to speculate about Ari’s new album, the singer has been focusing on other things. In late 2022, Lennox teamed up with R&B legend Babyface in creating the song “Liquor“ – which was included in the latter’s latest album “Girls Night Out.” Rolling into 2024 and beyond, Ari has stated that she would like to work with more R&B royalty, including Brandy and Tweet.

When quizzed about an R&B singer she would want to do an album with, Ari singled out Tweet. While speaking on the Way Up podcast, the singer said, “It would be Tweet.” She concluded with, “She’s everything” – in her praise of the highly revered “Oops Oh My” hit singer.

In the same podcast, Ari talked about her desire to work on a song with Brandy. The “BMO” hitmaker only had good things to say about the legendary R&B singer and her acclaimed holiday album. In the interview, the artist reiterated, “I would love to make music with [Brandy]” — and highlighted her desire to make a holiday album as well.
