Ari Lennox started her career in music by posting her songs on the internet. Fast forward to today and the soulful singer has been able to secure a deal with Dreamville Records, one of the most prominent record labels in the R&B and hip-hop scene — releasing two studio albums, including her latest installment “Age/Sex/Location,” and working on a variety of separate projects with other artists along the way.

Even though her music career seems to be blowing up, Lennox is open to doing other things, including acting. Read on to find out more about the “Pressure” singer’s forays into the world of acting.

Acting Debut

Lennox’s acting debut came in 2021 when she appeared in the reboot of The Game on Paramount+. The show was picked up by the company in March 2021— with the plans of bringing back some of the original cast members. Lennox appeared on the show as herself in an episode titled “White Party, White People, White Lies.” As per the Paramount+ description, the episode follows Malik’s struggles when it comes to pulling off no-nut November and Brittany’s attempt at making a boss move at Tasha’s annual white party.

In the episode, which originally aired on November 24th, Lennox is seen performing “Pressure,” her latest hit at the time, with other characters (Raquel Navarro and Adriyan Rae) in the show talking about how to make an impact with the celebrity.

After the appearance, Lennox expressed her admiration and respect for what actors and actresses do. In an interview with Ebony, she stated, “I totally respect actors and actresses on a whole ‘nother level … I had a baby role and I felt like ‘dang, this is a lot.” During the interview, the “Shea Butter Baby” singer talked about how difficult acting can be – citing long hours on set and the many rules that actors and actresses have to put up with whenever they are working on a project. Even with all these challenges, Lennox was adamant about being very interested in establishing herself in the acting world.

Is a Big-Screen Debut Next?

Having made her acting debut on television, Lennox is looking to spread her wings in the world of acting and make an appearance on the big screen. Speaking to MTV during an interview, the actress expressed her readiness to jump on any acting role, if and when Hollywood comes knocking.

The singer-songwriter delved deeper into her online audition for The Princess and the Frog live-action movie. To give viewers and the studios a taste of what to expect if she was cast in a possible remake of the movie, the talented singer created a social media video post capturing her soulful recreation of “Almost There” and reciting Princess Tiana’s line, “Mama, I don’t have time for dancing.” In the post, Lennox also asked Disney for the opportunity to audition for the role and tagged the entertainment company in the post.

In the MTV interview, Lennox admitted that she was earnestly looking for the perfect opportunity to make her big-screen debut. She went forward to highlight some of the potential projects she would be interested in, including Disney’s upcoming live-action Hercules.
