Anticipating Normani's New Music: What We Know So Far

Ever since Fifth Harmony disbanded in 2018, Normani has had a pretty stellar career except for one thing: her lack of albums. Unlike her fellow bandmates, most of whom have already released albums and EPs, Normani only has a handful of singles to show.
However, these singles were no ordinary songs. They all received critical acclaim from both fans and music legends, while “Love Lies” featuring Khalid went on to grab the No. 9 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and stayed on the chart for a staggering 51 weeks (almost a full year!).
Despite this, Normani never seemed in a rush to release new music. Most of her singles are also collaborations with other artists like Sam Smith, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion. But things may be changing very soon!
A New Management Team
On August 2023, it was reported that Normani would have a new management team. She is now working with Brandon Creed (whose company also manages Arianna Grande, Troye Sivan, and Bruno Mars), and Lydia Astrat (who handles Coco Jones). The first thing to come out of the management team was that new music was on the way for Normani, which got fans super excited.
Her former management team, Brandon Silverstein, and S10 Entertainment parted ways on good terms. "Change is good. S10 is headed in another direction and felt like it was time for us to move on. We achieved incredible success together over seven years. We wish her nothing but the best in her future," Silverstein told Rolling Stone.
Why Doesn’t Normani Release New Music?
For such an artistic and talented singer, it’s a big surprise to most fans that Normani hasn’t released more music. In 2021, she revealed some of the reasons why this is the case on WPGC's "Mid-Day Shenanigans With Poet" show.
“I’ve been sitting on – I have probably two, three albums worth of music,” she said, which shocked fans who have been waiting eagerly for new songs from her. Normani went on to explain that the reason she hadn’t released the music yet was because she was dealing with her insecurities. She also said that she is super critical of herself, which is another reason she hasn’t released the music.
This was met with mixed reactions. On the one hand, many people understood. After having such a stellar career with Fifth Harmony, there’s no doubt a lot of pressure on Normani to put out successful music.
However, many people felt that this was just an excuse. Some even argued that the lack of music was hurting Normani’s career. Others were disappointed, saying that Normani lost motivation since she already “made it,” to which Normani replied with a strong tweet: “just shut the f–k up”
What’s Next For Normani?
"With new music on the horizon, and Asrat and Creed now at the helm of her musical career, she and the rest of her team are extremely excited to embark on this new chapter and partnership," Normani’s representative said after announcing the Brandon Creed partnership.
"In terms of my career and my music, I know the wait has been extensive but it's definitely going to be worth it." Normani also told Billboard.
There’s still no release date for the album, or even a new single, leaving Normani’s fans in high anticipation for 2024.
