Nipsey’s Mom Offers Powerful Spiritual Words At Funeral

Angelique Smith, Nipsey Hussle‘s mother offered the most positive words to help the community move on and find peace. She took the stage with Nipsey‘s father, Dawit Asghedom. As he stood beside her, she spoke:

“I know that we are all divine creatures. I know that we are. […] We don’t need to look to the sky for a God. God is within.”

She continued:

“I am happy. I am complete. I am strong. And if I can feel this way, so can you.”

She kept her composure, and did her best to be bright and cheery for everyone present for the service.

“We call on the creator of everything, and on mother earth who sustains us. we call on the energies who guide and protect us, as we make out way in life. we call on our ancestors to join us at this service.”

She named off their ancestors

“Joseph Butay, Reginald Butay, Augustine Greene, John green. […]”

Then poured water as libations to the ancestors.

“Ashed”

“And we ask those ancestors of Ermias Joseph Asghedom, to keep him company on his journey, and we ask them to be there. I will ask that all of our ancestors guide and protect us, and give us […] of perfect peace.

We’re calling those ancestors into the service. We’re also asking for Ermias to have safe transit towards his resting place. We are also asking for his ancestors to greet him. We are asking that (she named off all the names of their ancestors) meet him also.

I wanna tell you that I stand a witness, that everything is in perfect and divine order. I want to encourage you to choose a vegan lifestyle. I want to encourage you to limit your use of alcoholic beverages and narcotic substances. I want to tell you that we come from royalty and regality. I want to tell you that we are very loving kind and spiritual race of people. I want to tell you that we are very traumatized, and we are very pressurized people. I wanna tell you that I didn’t have an easy life.”

Nipsey‘s mother explained how she had been in an abusive relationship, and how she was spiritually connected to Nipsey.

She gave an anecdote explaining a time when Nipsey was only 8 years old, and her car engine was on fire. She described how he ran out of the car, got the attention of some firefighters, and they drove to where Nipsey‘s mother was with the car.

She told everyone present:

“our engine is on fire now. We’re burning but we’re not destroyed.”
