Thursday is the new Friday. Now that we’re over hump day, let’s have a look at what’s happening in New York this weekend! From coffee to cupcakes to beer, NYC is sure to keep you occupied and satisfied before the Sunday scaries hit.

New York Coffee Festival – October 12-13

The New York Coffee Festival celebrates the burgeoning specialty coffee scene in the Big Apple. The immersive two-day event offers hundreds of exceptional coffees to sample, alongside many different workshops, street food, coffee cocktails, live music, and coffee-inspired art. You can participate in Latte Art LiveThe Sensory Experience, The Lab, The Village, the Brew Bar, the Cold Brew Coffee Bar, or The Kitchen. Or all of them.

For the first time this year, NYC’s own flagship coffee event also hosts global roaster tournament Roast Masters, as well as a new experimental area that is dedicated to chocolate making and tasting. Yummay. 100% of the profits will go to Project Waterfall – a charity working in partnership with NYC-based charity: water to bring clean water, sanitation, and education to coffee-growing communities around the world. Since 2011, they have helped more than 50,000 people in seven countries.

The festival will be held at Metropolitan Pavilion in the Chelsea district of Manhattan. Get your tickets here before they run out!

New York Cupcake Run – October 12 at 11 AM

This Saturday sees the 7th annual NYC Cupcake Run in which participants aim to complete a 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) run while stopping to eat three cupcakes at different checkpoints. Taking place in Astoria Park at 11 AM, it is open to people of all ages.

Register here for:

– A cute race bib
– Three cupcakes to be consumed during the race
– A Cupcake Run gift bag
– Free drink and food at a local bar (Rocky McBride’s) after the race

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to New York Cares.

OktoberFest NYC (extended) – October 12-13

If alcohol is more your thing, go to Oktoberfest NYC for some authentic German beer, traditional Oktoberfest food, and fun! There will also be brats, giant pretzels, stein-holding contests, and all-around fun. This event unfortunately is only for people age 21 and older.

The 2019 OktoberFest New York has been running since mid September and this weekend is the second last weekend you can participate before it wraps on October 20.

The venue is at the Watermark where you can take in the view of South Street Seaport. Buy tickets here – there are different packages to choose from depending on what kind of experience you prefer.
