Marvel Introduces Their First LGBTQ Character To The Big Screen

Once again Marvel is about to hit the fans with a big first! Tessa Thompson recently confirmed on twitter that she will be playing Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first LGBTQ character, Valkyrie in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok movie. The actress revealed on twitter that her character in the movie is bisexual. ” She’s bi. And yes, she cares very little about what men think of her . What a joy to play !”
In the Thor comics her character Valkyrie is traditionally known as a native of Thor’s homeland Asgard who is famous for her endurance and super strength. Although in the comics Valkyries character is a blonde Norse goddess, the film’s director Taika Waititi wanted to do more and add diversity to the franchise. Tessa also expressed how she felt about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and even said the whole cast was very welcoming.
