La Hara, whose real name is Bri Hall, is an emerging R&B songstress whose smooth-raspy voice creates music you can’t easily imitate. Her voice has a unique edge to it that adds soul to pop-ish R&B vibes.

She names Sade as one of her influences and you can hear those 80s R&B influences throughout. We’ve come to learn, she’s more than just a pretty face in the music industry. And she’s much more than the average influencer out for likes and attention.

With a career that started in graphic design, her artwork, YouTube channel, and 2018 TEDx Talk garnered her organic attention as she utilizes her platform for the greater good.

She spoke to Spindle and said:

“Nothing bothers me more than wasted influence. It’s our social duty to our communities to utilize privilege to contribute more to our world. We used to be in a place where celebrities have the only voice. Now, we’re in a place where the everyday person has access to platforms that give them a voice, and what we have to say is important to the next generation.”

How does she use her platform to make an impact?

Earlier this year, Hall took a humanitarian trip to Ethiopia and raised $1,300 for school supplies, and $2,000 in prenatal vitamins and infant care.

It’s no surprise that her music carries an otherworldly type of soul with it. Born to a family of Jamaican immigrants, Hall said she always had “a sense that there was beauty beyond borders.”

As for her music alter ego, La Hara, it was inspired by a Basquiat painting that represented the duality between her online persona and personal life.
