Jennie of BLACKPINK Debuts Single ‘SOLO’

BLACKPINK is back in the spotlight but this time Jennie, 1/4 of the all girl group, achieved a certified “All-kill” with her debut single “SOLO.”
Jennie dropped her first solo track on November 12 at 6PM Korean Standard Time.
According to Soompi, on “November 14 at 1:30 p.m. KST, ‘SOLO’ came in first place on the realtime and daily charts of all six major Korean music sites (Melon, Genie, Bugs, Mnet, Naver, and Soribada) as well as iChart’s realtime chart. This means it has achieved what’s called a ‘certified all-kill.'”
This doesn’t come as a surprise as Jennie is one of BLACKPINK’s favorites with the most followers on Instagram 2nd to member Lalisa. When her song was released on the 12th, it quickly climbed the charts and by 8:30PM KST it had hit No. 1 on the realtime charts of all six major Korean music sites and 2 days later remained on the daily charts.
The charts below show the progression of her debut’s success into a certified all-kill.
The song is an empowering anthem about a girl who has had enough of being “innocent and delicate” and is ready to move on from a love with “no romance no sincerity.”
She sports angel wings and rides on a car that’s spray painted with the words “Not even a distant memory. Better off without you.”
Throughout the music video she goes from a girl wearing flowy, flowery and pastel colored clothing to ditching the threads in a laundromat and emerging a confident woman.

There are flashbacks of herself crying but in the end she dances with a crew of women dancers in a form fitting, red, white and black ensemble.
