25-year-old Heather Rose launched I.A.N Cosmetics this past April with a passion for makeup and a dream of entrepreneurial success. Launching right in the thick of the Coronavirus pandemic was no easy feat, but thanks to Heather’s loyal followers, I.A.N has seen great success.
According to Heather, she landed on the name I.A.N as an acronym for “It’s Absolutely Necessary,” which perfectly encompasses her love for makeup. “I picked that because I have all the necessities for your everyday face,” explained the founder. “I love makeup and I feel like it’s absolutely necessary and I feel like my products are absolutely necessary to have.”
I.A.N carries lipsticks, lip glosses, highlighters, eyeshadows and pallets, and anything else you’d need for everyday glam. Heather’s personal favorite is the “Mauve-alous” Lip Kit, which has lip gloss, lipstick and brown lip liner. “It’s just perfect for everyday and it goes with every skin tone,” she added. Her formulas are inspired by some of her favorite products, handpicking which aspects of certain products she enjoyed as a consumer. “We sat in the lab and I actually hand-picked each and everything that I wanted to be in my lipsticks and lipglosses.”
When purchasing from I.A.N, you’re not only promised quality but authenticity. Heather Rose’s dedication to making this cosmetic company the best it can possibly be is what makes I.A.N stand out. “It’s just me and I’m doing all the footwork myself so it’s like, when I become successful and the more successful the business becomes, it’s just a little more personable and a little more genuine,” explained Heather. “You can feel that when you receive the package. You’re able to write to me, talk to me about it, and tell me if you like it or not, if you’re dissatisfied or anything.”
While many entrepreneurs would be hesitant about launching a company in the middle of an unprecedented pandemic, Heather Rose saw this moment as an opportunity. “I had a launch date set for April and when Corona came around it put a dead-hook on my launch,” she explained. “But just sitting in the house I felt like, why not? We’re all sitting in the house already. I’ve already got my followers waiting for the drop, waiting to support, so I just dropped it.”
“I feel like Corona did help my business,” Heather continued. “Everyday, everyone sits in their houses, on the internet and we’re all shopping everyday. We all have some money right now because we’re not doing other things.”
Currently, Heather is gearing up to release a brand new collection called the “F*ck Boys” collection along with adding skincare products. “I just want everyone to stay tuned for that because it’s gonna be major given that I’ve had troubled skin,” added Heather. “I definitely sat for a long time coming up with a formula that works for me that I know will work for everybody else.”
