When a Friendship Turns Toxic

For anyone that has watched a Keeping up with the Kardashians marathon on the E! Network, you know that there aren’t that many lessons on life that you can gather from their show, or any of their numerous spin offs. I was expecting the same from the summer series Life of Kylie, that follows the life of the youngest Jenner/Kardashian girl. Of course the show features Kylie’s fabulous life of jet setting and photo shoots were shown, but what really caught my attention was the relationship between Kylie and her best friend Jordyn Woods.
The two girls have been friends since early childhood, and as Kylie’s star started to rise, so did Jordyn’s. However, watching the show, you can see that their is an imbalance of independence in the friendship. The most startling example of this is when Jordyn was at Beauty Con in NYC (she’s a model), and she was offered to take meetings with major make up brands the following day to discuss partnership. Most people would jump at an opportunity like that, but to the disappointment of her mother, Jordyn declined the offer, and flew to Europe the next day to see the unveiling of Kylie’s wax figure. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that supporting our friends is an important part of a healthy friendship, but when you start to put your dreams on hold for others, how healthy is that relationship? Check out the clip below, from Life of Kylie’s season finale, to see Jordyn bump heads with Kylie in order to try to gain some independence
