Summertime is swiftly coming to a close, which means cooler weather and for the more basic – pumpkin spice lattes. Fall is the best time to sit and watch some scary movies, and there are a ton of new horror films coming out that fans are anticipating. Here are some awesome spooky and scary movies coming out this fall:
Doctor Sleep
As the sequel to the interestingly terrifying psychological thriller The Shining, Doctor Sleep follows the story of the young son of Jack Torrance. Now an adult struggling with alcoholism, Dan Torrance meets someone with his extrasensory ability while he is trying to forget all about it. This one is set to release in theaters November 8.
It Chapter Two
Hitting theaters September 6, this horror films follows the story of the all-grown-up loser’s squad from the box office hit It. Based on the novel by Stephen King, the gang returns to their hometown of Derry 27 years after they thought they killed the horrific clown.
Zombieland: Double Tap
This one is only a little scary and the sequel the horror comedy Zombieland. Returning characters include Woody Harrelson, Zoey Deutch, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenburg, Abigail Breslin, and even Bill Murray. Coming out October 18, this film features the same crew fighting off a new wave of evolved zombies.
Paradise Hills
Starring the literal scream queen herself, Emma Roberts finds herself on an island that has dark secrets. Joining her in the cast are Awkwafina and Eiza Gonzales, who were all sent to the island to become idyllic women. This brightly colored, life-like thriller will hit theaters November 1.
Joker
Though we can never even compare a Joker performance to Heath Ledger’s, I think Joaquin Phoenix will do an amazing job in his place. The newest film about this villain, Joker, is set to hit theaters October 4. It follows the backstory of comedian Arthur Fleck and his evolution into the evil mastermind we know as the Joker.
