On Thursday, up-and-coming singer-songwriter, Dana Williams released the acoustic version of her single, “Holiday,” and I’m here for it!
Words By Jenny Lin
The song details a relationship that used to be sweet but has gone sour due to the other party being too overbearing.
-I don’t wanna fight
I think I need a little break
I don’t care who’s wrong
‘Cause this is more than I can take
And now I have a stomach ache
‘Cause I used to dream of you
But now I wish you’d go away
It’s only a holiday when you’re away
It’s only a holiday when you’re not here
‘Cause that’s when I have my space
I don’t wanna fight
I think I need a little break
I don’t care who’s wrong
‘Cause this is more than I can take
And now I have a stomach ache
‘Cause I used to dream of you
But now I wish you’d go away
It’s only a holiday when you’re away
It’s only a holiday when you’re not here
‘Cause that’s when I have my space
The acoustic version of “Holiday” shot up by 27 views on YouTube from when I first listened to it. I’m certain that the view increase was all from me listening to it on repeat for three hours straight. Yes, it’s that good.
The moment I started playing it, miracles began happening. My skin? Cleared. My depression? Cured. Hotel? Trivago. For real though, while the studio version of “Holiday” was a masterpiece, the acoustic version is a whole new experience as it completely strips the song down to a single guitar and Williams’ voice. As a result, it perfectly highlights Williams’ light and airy voice that’s truly a breath of fresh air in the music world. Her voice is a treat for your ears, and I will definitely be adding her songs to my heavy rotation playlist this summer!
So what are you doing? Go give her music a little more love! You can watch the acoustic version below. While you’re at it, go watch the music video for “Holiday” too. Trust me, the visuals are stunning.
