CHANEL Announces Karl Lagerfeld’s Successor: Virginie Viard

With Paris Fashion Week right around the corner, Karl Lagerfeld‘s passing this morning sent a wave of shock, not only to the fashion community, but creatives alike. Karl Lagerfeld‘s iconic creative direction would need an entrusted successor. According to The House of CHANEL, this responsibility has been entrusted on Virginie Viard. Virginie Viard, Director of CHANEL’s Fashion Creation Studio was Karl Lagerfeld‘s closest collaborator for over 30 years. CHANEL‘s CEO, Alan Wertheimer has found her suitable to embark on the creative work for the collections. Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Fashion at CHANEL said in a statement,
“The greatest tribute we can pay today is to continue to follow the path he traced by – to quote Karl – ‘continuing to embrace the present and invent the future’.”
And so, with Virginie Viard at the throne, The House of CHANEL allows the legacy of Gabrielle Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld to live on.
