When fashion takes over the streets of New York, it takes over…. and this was no exception for photographer Bryan Taylor Johnson. The NYC based photographer –whose credentials include Christian Seriano, Vogue Italia IT, GQ Magazine, HUF Magazine, and Elegant Magazine – collaborated with fashion label The JD Collection for a fashion editorial titled “Bad and Boujee”. The models were fierce in look from sleek, sheer gowns embroidered with intricate patterns, feathers, and sequins, to structured metallic pieces that resembled Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain. It’s safe to say the looks gave us BOMBSHELL realness.
Johnson’s inspiration behind the the editorial came about during the solar eclipse, –”I was at a transitional period of my life…” he told BOMBSHELL. During the eclipse, en event that signifies new beginnings, he set 13 goals, the 7th goal being to photograph and “extraordinary project”. With a simple DM to the designer of The JD Collection, the editorial was born. “I shot the collection immediately and the shoot definitely gave me “Bad and Boujee” vibes. Just fly ass women on Park Ave, who are elegant however they don’t take any shit from anyone…setting their own rules. Ultimately Bombshells” he said. To see more of Johnson’s work, click here.
