Georgia teenager Sydney Wilson makes history as the youngest student ever to be accepted into Spelman College. Wilson was once teased for being too smart and she’s able to prove how much she doesn’t care what they think as she attends college in the fall. Wilson is excited to be part of the distinguished alumnae that includes actress Keisha Knight Pulliam, politician Stacey Abrams, writer Alice Walker, and many more. She told her family the exciting news and they ended up posting the news on their social media pages.
Wilson was accepted to Spelman at only 13 years old, but she recently celebrated her birthday so she will be attending as a 14 year old.
Here is what she said to WSB-TV 2 Atlanta about attending Spelman and also her take on being among the older students:
-“I just stayed on my path,” Wilson said. “I didn’t really feel like I needed to be popular … because, I mean, I like myself.”
“I’ve been with the older kids all my life, so socially, I don’t think it will be a problem for me,”
